3/9/24 – Boxford Democratic Town Caucus

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, Boxford Democrats will convene in person at The Center at 10 Elm to elect 5 delegates and 4 alternates to represent Boxford at the 2024 Democratic State Convention. This year the convention will be held in person at the DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Doors for the caucus will open for registration at 12:30 PM. The caucus will begin promptly at 1:00 PM. Participants must be present and signed-in by 1:15 PM to be nominated or to vote.

Registered and preregistered Democrats in Boxford, who were at least 16 years old by February 15, 2024, may vote and be elected as delegates or alternates during the caucus. You can check/change/register yourself at the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s official site at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/.

In order to promote broad participation in the convention, youth (aged 16 to 35), people with disabilities, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and veterans, who were not elected as delegates or alternates at the caucus, are encouraged to fill out a “Convention Add-on Application” at https://massdems.org/massdems-convention.

All delegates and alternates are expected to pay a $75 registration fee to help defray costs of the convention. Seniors (65 and older), disabled persons, and students pay a discounted fee. Students under age 18 pay only $25. If this fee is too much for you, please apply for a confidential fee-waiver at https://massdems.org/delegate.

More information about the MassDems 2024 Convention and the delegate selection process can be found at https://massdems.org/massdems-convention. If you cannot attend the caucus and would like to run for delegate or alternate, or you have any other questions, please feel free to contact Ken Thompson at Chair@BoxfordDems.org.

6/4/23 – Tri-Town Pride Parade

The Boxford Dems will take part in the Tri-Town Pride Parade on Sunday, June 4th, in Topsfield, marching under the banner of “Tri-Town Democrats”. The 0.8 mile parade starts at 1:00 PM and can be viewed from Grove Street and Main Street in Topsfield Center.

Pride parades serve as a platform for advocacy and activism. They are an opportunity to celebrate and embrace your own LGBTQ+ identity or to show support for your friends, family and community members. Pride month is a time to honor the progress that has been made in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and to acknowledge the diversity and resilience of the community.

By walking in a pride parade, you help increase visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. This visibility can raise awareness about the challenges and discrimination that LGBTQ+ individuals face, fostering understanding and empathy among the general public. It sends a powerful message of solidarity and inclusivity. Remember that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are hallmarks of the Democratic Party.

As Democrats we are happy to march in support of LGBTQ+ rights. If you would like to walk with us, please contact Ken Thompson, Chair@BoxfordDems.org, for more information. Everyone is invited to march.
