Trump is taking the “fun” out of fundraising—what dupes fall for this?
Collection of a week’s worth of emailed solicitations.
The five stages of Republican fundraising: Presumptiousness, Anger, Whininess, Rudeness, and Exasperation.
Window into MAGA dupedom
We all get them—solicitations for funds from political candidates. But since I registered for a Republican North Andover event a couple of months ago I’ve gotten a small insight into what it takes to be a MAGA dupe.
Strangely, given that it was a very local affair, I have received no emails from ANY of the Republican candidates running for office in Massachusetts—Minogue, Shortsleeve, Deaton, Walsh. Only Trump or Vance.
In MAGA world, Trump rules the roost and all the spoils go to him and related organizations—e.g., I’m sure various shell companies and other branded and unbranded, as well as “Trump Nation Committee JFC.”
I must say, and. I guess we Democrats can be a bit delicate, the tone they take is over-familiar (after all I’m so new to the email list):
THIS IS GETTING SAD! I’ve asked you SO MANY TIMES to complete my Official MAGA Poll - I’m worried about you! This is your very LAST CHANCE.
Have you ever gotten a letter from the President. I doubt it. This never happens!
I hope you haven’t given up on my mission to put American first, friend. If you haven’t, will you do me a HUGE FAVOR? CHIP IN $26 TODAY!
THIS IS A TEST FROM TRUMP: I want to make sure my emails are getting through.
Chris, I know you usually respond right away - that’s why I was surprised not to see your July MAGA Survey yet. Maybe you overlooked Question #2? Question #2 is the ONLY required question because it’s critical. So, if you’re low on time, can you at least answer #2? I’m counting on you.

Does anyone fall for this? Are any of his recipients not insulted or offended by this? Does it work?
And here we are—the BoxfordDems—not sending out solicitations for fear of overwhelming or insulting our supporters!
Box Cutter Stirrers
We’re not a big Facebook people, but we’ve discovered—to our delight—how easily our local MAGAs are provoked by even the most light-hearted, self-evident observations. We’re now advertising the publication of new issues of our newsletters on Facebook and Instagram, and a few locals did not disappoint.
These people are not serious people, a fact brought home after someone decided to see last week’s article of the Reflecting Pool as an invitation to ask questions:
“Aisle Crossing". Nothing says crossing the aisle like damaging federal property to "prove a point" against "the bad orange man". Does the drink need to be stirred with a box cutter or nah?”
Ballot Harvesting
Another reader offered an opinion on BoxfordDems’ initiative to offer rides to the polls. The ambition behind that initiative is to have as many Boxford voters vote in person both during early-voting and on election day (Primary and General Elections) and thus not have to rely on U.S. Mail and all the other methods of voting that Republicans seem to oppose (at least today) To that, some genius called our initiative the equivalent of “ballot harvesting,” apparently not knowing the meaning of that phrase.
All That Matters Is Turnout
It’s hard to argue with people like that. In theory, it’d be interesting to engage with the local MAGA contingent. But let’s face it: The time for discussion is over. It doesn’t matter what you say, they’ll keep moving the goal posts and deny manifest reality, even the meaning of words.
What WE have to do now is get everyone who want to end the Administration’s and its local watercarriers’ constant grift, lying, cheating, gaslighting, and lack of empathy.
